Pregnant Woman Carried Across Flooded Stream in Telangana

A mom-to-be who was seven months pregnant needed to see a doctor.

She lives in a small village called Kolam Guda in Telangana, India.

Heavy rain had made the stream near her village too full and fast for cars or an ambulance to cross.

So her family and neighbours worked together to help her.

They placed her on a special hand-carried stretcher called a doli.

They carefully walked through the moving water to keep her safe.

When they reached the hospital in Kerameri, doctors could not find the baby's movement.

So she was sent to another hospital in Asifabad for more care.

This shows how hard it is for people in faraway villages to get medical help during heavy rains.

The villagers hope the government builds bridges and better roads so trips like this are not so dangerous.
