How India’s Top Manufacturing States Were Ranked
Business Today wanted to compare manufacturing performance across Indian states.
It looked at 33 states and Union territories.
The study used seven measures, including factories, investment, exports, workers, and power supply.
It also examined manufacturing and construction output.
Each state was compared using its latest available numbers.
States were additionally judged on growth over 10 years and five years.
Export growth was measured over seven years because older comparable data was limited.
The scores were combined to identify the 10 states with the strongest overall manufacturing performance.
Business Today created a blended scorecard to rank India’s top manufacturing states.
The assessment covered 33 states and Union territories across seven manufacturing indicators.
Indicators included factories, invested capital, manufacturing and construction GSVA, exports, workers, and power availability.
States received separate scores for latest performance, 10-year growth, and 5-year growth for each indicator.
Composite scores were combined into final rankings, balancing manufacturing scale with growth momentum.
