DRDO Chief Foresees Invisible Electronic Security Replacing Physical Fences
B K Das of India’s defence research agency said border security may change a lot in the next 10 years.
He thinks tall fences and other physical barriers may be replaced by electronic systems.

Computers, networks and artificial intelligence would also play a bigger role.

These ideas were discussed at a security technology exhibition in New Delhi.
DRDO Director General B K Das predicted physical barriers could largely give way to electronic security within the next decade.
He highlighted spectrum dominance, satellites, space-based systems, networks and artificial intelligence as future security tools.
Das said electronic countermeasures and counter-countermeasures would become increasingly important in controlling spectrum and bandwidth.
He said his greatest satisfaction would come from seeing soldiers trust and use indigenous DRDO technology on the borders.
The three-day INDIA FENCE EXPO 2026 is showcasing fencing, surveillance, access-control, drone-detection and counter-drone technologies.
