Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) in Pune, India, recently hosted a two-day national seminar on transgender identity and inclusion.

Union Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale and Maharashtra Minister of State for Social Justice Madhuri Misal attended the valedictory ceremony, where Athawale called for a dedicated law to address atrocities against transgender persons, and Misal announced plans to develop a dedicated portal to collect data on transgender persons for targeted welfare schemes.
