Valley of Words Festival to Host Children’s Literature Events
The Valley of Words festival is planning a special day about children’s books.
It will take place at Him Jyoti School in Dehradun on October 4, 2026.
Children in Grades 2 to 5 from seven schools will join in.
Four authors whose books were shortlisted for an award are expected to meet the students.
The children will act out stories and invent new endings.
They will also tell stories using sounds made with their voices and bodies.
Other activities include making book advertisements, interviewing story characters and redesigning book covers.
In one activity, students will pretend to be the authors.
The organisers say the event is meant to help children enjoy books and express their ideas.
The festival’s sixth Children’s Literature Vertical will be held at Him Jyoti School in Dehradun on October 4, 2026.
Students in Grades 2 to 5 from seven participating schools will take part.
Four shortlisted authors—Nandita da Cunha, Niveditha Reddy, Samina Mishra and Vaishali BK—are scheduled to attend.
Activities include book enactments, musical storytelling, creative advertisements, character interviews and cover redesign.
A non-competitive “Be the Author” activity will invite students to portray the shortlisted authors and discuss their lives and work.
