JDA Halts Action on Alleged Illegal Commercial Sites
The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) sent notices to a resort and other businesses that were using farmland for commercial purposes without the right permissions.
The businesses asked a court for help, and the court said the JDA should pause its actions until it decides the case.
The court will look at the case on September 8.
This pause follows a Supreme Court order from March that told city authorities to stop illegal buildings on farmland.
The JDA says it will only decide if the buildings are legal after the court’s final decision.
JDA issued notices on July 24 to a resort and other commercial establishments operating on agricultural land without permission.
The establishments sought relief from the JDA Appellate Tribunal, which granted an interim stay on July 30.
The stay suspends JDA’s enforcement actions until the tribunal’s final decision on September 8.
The move follows a Supreme Court directive issued March 25, 2026, to curb illegal constructions on agricultural or residential land in state capitals.
JDA maintains that the legality of the developments will be decided only after the tribunal’s hearing.
