Bandi Sanjay Targets AIMIM, Congress Over Vande Mataram, Ration Cards
A very important leader from India's national government spoke to reporters on Saturday.
His name is Bandi Sanjay Kumar, and he belongs to the BJP.
He said his group will sing a famous patriotic song called Vande Mataram outside a temple in the old part of Hyderabad, and he told another political group, the AIMIM, that they cannot stop it.
He warned that people who insult the song could go to jail for three years.
He also talked about cards that give poor families free rice.
He asked why the picture of India's Prime Minister is not on those cards, since the central government pays for the rice.
He said the state government's numbers about who receives rice do not make sense and that it has not kept its promises and is borrowing too much money.
He ended by saying his party would make the state grow faster.
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar announced a BJP mass recital of Vande Mataram at Bhagyalakshmi Temple near Charminar and challenged AIMIM to stop it if they had the courage.
He accused AIMIM of boycotting the national song in the Assembly and alleged Congress had supported the party.
Sanjay warned that insulting Vande Mataram could attract a three-year jail term and a fine.
He questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi's photograph was excluded from smart ration cards while the Chief Minister's and ministers' photos were included, saying the Centre provides free rice to nearly two crore people through 57 lakh ration cards in Telangana.
He criticised the Congress government over 95 lakh acres placed under Section 22A, pending fee reimbursement dues, unfulfilled election promises and rising debt, saying faster development was possible only under a BJP-led double-engine government.
