India counts 819 anti-trafficking units; Centre urges state coordination

Every day, police and other helpers work to stop something called human trafficking, which happens when bad people take or trick others and force them to do things they don't want to do.

To fight this, India has special police teams called Anti-Human Trafficking Units.

Leaders in the government said there are 819 of these teams all across the country.

One state called Bihar has 44 of these special teams.

The central government in Delhi is telling all the states to work together when a trafficking case involves more than one state.

Police and law and order are mostly handled by each state, so the states have the main job of stopping trafficking.

The central government helps by giving advice and by training police officers through conferences and special classes.

Police can also use special computer systems to instantly share information about big crimes, including trafficking.

When everyone shares information and works together, it is easier to catch the bad people and keep everyone safe.
