People Drinking Better Wines: Founder Nikhil Agarwal on India's Evolution
Nikhil Agarwal runs a company in India called All Things Nice that helps people learn about good wines and spirits.
He says people in India are now drinking more wine, and better wine, than they used to.
Even people who live outside the three biggest cities are starting to enjoy wine.
More grown-ups are joining wine clubs and going to tastings and dinners.
Younger people are drinking less whisky, but fancy single malt whisky is selling really well.
Cocktails are very popular in India now, and tequila is growing faster than any other drink.
Mr. Agarwal helps organise ProWine Mumbai, the biggest wine and spirits show in India, which is coming up in November.
The show will include masterclasses, talks, a drinks competition and even drinks with little or no alcohol.
Another event, Bombay Cocktail Week, starts next week, with cocktails made using Dewar's whisky.
He believes wine will become a much bigger part of India's drink business in the future.
Nikhil Agarwal, founder of All Things Nice and ProWine India, says Indians are drinking more and better wines, with appreciation growing beyond India's three big cities.
While younger consumers drink less whisky, single malt whisky sales in India are booming.
Cocktail culture is now cemented in India and tequila is the fastest-growing spirit, driven by rapid premiumisation.
ProWine Mumbai, India's largest wine and spirits exhibition, returns in November with masterclasses, panel discussions and a bartender competition.
Bombay Cocktail Week begins next week with Dewar's 12YO and 15YO as featured whiskies, as All Things Nice marks 16 years.
