Kerala Child Rights Commission to launch courses with open university
In the Indian state of Kerala, there is a special group that works to protect children, called the Child Rights Commission.
This group is teaming up with a university in Kollam called Sree Narayana Guru Open University.
Together, they are going to start two new classes: a certificate course and a diploma course.
The classes will teach about children's rights, which are the rules that help keep kids safe and happy.
Students will learn about special laws that protect children, like the law that stops child marriage and the law that stops child labour.
They will also learn about the law that says every child has the right to go to school.
The classes will teach both book knowledge and practical skills, so students know how to help children in real life.
To make it official, both groups will sign a special agreement called a memorandum of understanding.
They will sign it on August 11 at the university.
After finishing the classes, students will be better prepared to protect children's rights.
Kerala's child rights commission (KSCPCR) will jointly launch certificate and diploma courses on child rights with Sree Narayana Guru Open University.
An MoU between the two institutions will be signed and exchanged at the university Vice Chancellor's chamber at 10.30 am on August 11.
The courses aim to provide practical and academic knowledge on children's rights and constitutional protections.
The syllabus covers the Juvenile Justice Act, POCSO Act, Prohibition of Child Marriage Act and Prohibition of Child Labour Act.
The courses also include the Right to Education Act and child protection systems.
