MCD Approves Rooftop Solar Plan for 1,100 Buildings
MCD clears solar plan to power 1,100 civic buildings · thehansindia.com

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi plans to add solar panels to about 1,100 civic buildings.

Solar panels use sunlight to make electricity.

Indraprastha Power Generation Company Limited will check which buildings are suitable.

It will then arrange for solar systems to be installed under Delhi’s solar policy.

The MCD already has 574 solar plants on its properties.

Officials say another 800 to 900 buildings may be suitable for grid-connected solar systems.

The project will use a model in which another company pays for, operates and maintains the equipment.

The MCD will buy the electricity instead of owning the solar plants.

This means the MCD will not have to pay the main installation cost itself.
