ITBP, Kinnaur body sign MoU for Pahadi meat supply

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police, or ITBP, are the officers who guard India's high mountain border.

The leaders of the ITBP made a promise with a farmers' group from a place called Kinnaur.

The farmers' group will bring sheep and goat meat from local villages to feed the officers.

At first, the farmers will provide about one-tenth of all the meat the officers need.

This will give the local farmers about 90 lakh rupees of business every year.

If everything works well, farmers could one day provide all the meat, worth about 9 crore rupees.

The leader of Himachal Pradesh, Mr. Sukhu, helped the two sides sign the promise.

He said the agreement gives officers safe, clean food and gives mountain families a way to earn money.

Later, the plan will also include eggs, chickens, vegetables and fish.

This helps the officers and the people living near the border become good partners.
