JNTUH Launches NCC Unit to Train Future Armed Forces Cadets
JNTUH has started a new National Cadet Corps unit for its students.
The unit is based at the University College of Engineering, Science and Technology Hyderabad.
Students can learn discipline, leadership and responsibility through the programme.
They may also get opportunities to join the Army, Navy or Air Force.
Students who earn an NCC ‘C’ certificate can use special routes to apply for some military careers.
They may not need to take the CDS/UPSC written examination for those routes.
The university can enrol 160 cadets over three years.
The first Army group will have 60 cadets, chosen after fitness tests and interviews.

The unit will offer students opportunities to pursue careers in the Tri-Services of the Indian Armed Forces.
NCC ‘C’ certificate holders can access Special Entry Schemes without taking the CDS/UPSC written examination.
The university has approval to enrol 160 cadets over three years, the largest allocation under the Secunderabad Group.
The Army unit will operate under 4 Telangana Battalion NCC, with 60 cadets selected through fitness tests and interviews.
