Andhra Pradesh Expands Cardiac Care in Government Hospitals
The Andhra Pradesh government is adding more heart-treatment equipment to public hospitals.
This is meant to help poor and rural patients receive care closer to home.
New Cath Labs are planned in Tirupati, Nellore and Srikakulam.
Four more heart-lung machines will be bought for government hospitals.
Doctors will also receive new heart-testing machines, monitors and defibrillators.
Open-heart surgery is expected to start soon in Anantapur.
A larger heart centre is also planned in Kakinada.
Officials said thousands of patients have already received heart treatment through state hospitals and assistance programs.
They also said free emergency injections helped heart-attack patients under the STEMI programme.
Andhra Pradesh plans new Cath Labs in Tirupati, Nellore and Srikakulam at an estimated cost of Rs 18 crore.
The government will spend Rs 10 crore on four heart-lung machines and Rs 6 crore on 2D Echo machines and other cardiac equipment.
The overall plan to strengthen cardiac infrastructure in major government hospitals is valued at Rs 34 crore.
Open-heart surgeries are expected to begin soon at Anantapur, while a 50,000-square-foot heart centre is planned for Kakinada.
State heart centres recorded 4,724 angioplasties, 14,320 angiograms, 359 bypass surgeries and 111 valve replacements across 2024-25 and 2025-26.
