Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital in Chennai opened several new medical facilities.

These include a heart-treatment laboratory, a CT scanner and a 50-bed dialysis centre.

The hospital also upgraded its endoscopy unit and opened a new intensive care unit for patients recovering from anaesthesia.

A new kitchen was built to prepare and distribute patient meals more safely.

The hospital expanded its Nalam AI appointment service to all 32 departments.

Patients can use WhatsApp or the Citizen App – e-Nalam to choose an appointment department, date and time.

The new dialysis centre can treat as many as 150 patients each day.

Officials said the new facilities are intended to improve treatment and reduce waiting times.
