Two Maoist Arms Dumps Busted in Bastar, Chinese Grenade Seized
Security forces found two hidden Maoist weapon stores in a forest in Chhattisgarh.
The stores contained guns, grenade launchers, ammunition and explosives.
One of the items was a Chinese hand grenade.
The recovery happened during a search and operation to remove mines.
Police said it was the fourth such recovery in the district in 12 days.
Other weapons had also been found earlier in September.
The authorities have been conducting large operations in Bastar’s forests.
They began these operations after the region was declared free of armed Naxal activity on March 31.
Security personnel recovered two Maoist arms dumps in Bijapur district’s Lanka Pahadi forest.
The caches contained an SLR, INSAS rifle, .315-bore gun and two barrel grenade launchers.
Officials also found 17 BGL shells, a Chinese hand grenade, 49 SLR rounds and four magazines.
This was the fourth arms-dump recovery in Bijapur district during the past 12 days.
Earlier recoveries included an AK-47, pistol, firearms, ammunition and explosives from forests in the district.
