A new poll asked people in Israel which political parties they might support.

Gadi Eisenkot’s Yashar party came first with a projected 24 seats.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party came very close behind with 23 seats.

Other parties, including B’Yachad and the Democrats, were also projected to win seats.

The opposition could have more seats than Netanyahu’s coalition, but neither side would have the 61 seats needed for a majority.

Arab parties could hold 11 seats together.

This means forming a government could remain difficult.

The poll came after Likud members chose candidates for the next election, while Netanyahu kept the power to select several candidates himself.
