Beed Dry Port, Logistics Park Gains Momentum After Goyal's Intervention
There is a town called Beed that might get a big new place for shipping goods.
This place is called an inland dry port, which is like a station for goods even though it is not near the sea.
The town also wants a logistics park, where things can be kept, packed and moved around easily.
The building would have spaces for containers, warehouses, cold storage and packaging.
A minister named Piyush Goyal got a letter asking for help with this project.
He passed the request to the department that handles such matters.
Farmers in the area grow cotton, soybean and pomegranate, and would benefit from cheaper transport.
The project could make it faster and cheaper to send goods to other places.
People hope it will bring new businesses and jobs for young people in the region.
Now local leaders are waiting to see if the government approves the plan.
Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has forwarded Beed's Inland Dry Port and logistics park proposal to the concerned department for further action.
MP Bajrang Sonawane, who is pursuing the project, wrote to Goyal on August 1 and received a reply on August 5.
The proposed facility would offer container handling, warehousing, cold storage and packaging under one roof.
Supporters say the project could cut transportation costs and transit time for farmers, traders and industries in Beed and nearby Marathwada.
The dry port and logistics park is also expected to attract industrial investment and generate employment for local youth.
