Census Enumeration Advances In Four States Ahead Of 2027 Polls
Census: Population enumeration in 4 poll-bound states from Dec 1, 2026 to Jan 4, 2027 · CNBC TV 18

India is getting ready to count its population in Census 2027.

In Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and most of Uttarakhand, the main count will happen from December 1, 2026, to January 4, 2027.

People in these places can also provide their information online or themselves from November 16 to November 30.

Officials will check the information during a revisional period from January 5 to January 9.

January 5, 2027, will be the official reference date for these areas.

Snowy parts of some northern regions will follow an earlier schedule.

The rest of the country will use March 1, 2027, as its reference date.

The timetable was moved forward because several states may hold elections around the same time.

Government workers, including teachers, are needed for both counting people and conducting elections.
