An important visitor from India, named Vikram Misri, went to a country called Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is an island nation that lives very close to India, and the two countries have been friends for more than 2,500 years.

Mr. Misri's job is to help India talk and work with other countries.

During his one-day trip, he met Sri Lanka's Foreign Minister to talk about how the two countries can work together.

He also planned to meet Sri Lanka's President and Prime Minister.

The day before his visit, India gave Sri Lanka a special chemical called Malathion that helps stop mosquitoes from spreading a sickness called dengue.

India has also been helping Sri Lanka build things like schools, hospitals, roads and railways.

India has given more than 7.5 billion dollars of help, including money for projects in all 25 districts of Sri Lanka.

Last year, India's Prime Minister also visited Sri Lanka and the two countries signed seven agreements to help each other.

This visit shows that India and Sri Lanka are good neighbours who want to keep working together.
