Kolkata Independence Day tableaux to showcase Centre, Bengal welfare schemes
India celebrates Independence Day on August 15 every year.
In Kolkata, a big parade is held on a famous road called Red Road.
This year, 11 decorated floats called tableaux will take part in the parade.
The floats will show off helpful government programs, like free homes for people and free bus rides for women.
They will also remember Syama Prasad Mookerjee, a leader from long ago.
This is the first Independence Day after a new government came to power in the state, so people expect some surprises.
The Chief Minister will raise the national flag at 10:30 in the morning.
The whole celebration will last about one hour and will include a flower shower from a helicopter.
Police will keep a close watch to make sure everyone is safe.
It will be a colorful day of parades, culture, and celebration.
Eleven tableaux will be displayed on Red Road in Kolkata during the August 15 Independence Day parade.
The tableaux will highlight welfare schemes of the central government and the new BJP-led West Bengal government, including Annapurna Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, and free bus rides for women.
The contribution of Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee will also be featured in a tableau.
This will be the first Independence Day programme since the BJP formed the state government, and Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari will hoist the national flag.
Security around Red Road has been tightened amid fears of militant attacks, with a multi-layered security cordon and surveillance systems planned.
