Vande Mataram Debuts at Bengal's 80th Independence Day Parade

India celebrates a special day every year called Independence Day, when the country became free.

This year, people in the state of West Bengal had a big celebration on a famous road called Red Road.

It was the 80th time India celebrated this day.

The state's chief minister, Suvendu Adhikari, gave a patriotic speech and led the celebrations.

For the very first time, the parade band played a famous patriotic song called Vande Mataram, which is 150 years old.

A helicopter flew overhead and dropped pretty flower petals on everyone.

There was a big parade with police, Army and other soldiers marching together.

People also made colourful floats, called tableaux, showing different good schemes like free bus rides for women and health care.

Everyone loved the motorcycle riders who did amazing stunts.

It was a joyful day full of music, flowers and celebration.
