Govt assures full support to thalassemia-affected children
There is a blood illness called thalassemia that affects children.
A government leader named Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said the government will help these children and their families.
He promised that children will not face difficulties getting blood or government benefits.
The good news was shared at a special meeting in the city of Hanamkonda.
The meeting was a thank-you event hosted by the Indian Red Cross Society.
It happened after the government agreed to give pensions to children with thalassemia.
Around 235 families used a special counter in Hanamkonda to apply.
More than 2,000 affected people across the State are expected to benefit.
The minister also said the government may help some eligible families get housing.
He asked young people to donate blood regularly to help these children.
Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy assured the State government will extend all possible support to thalassemia-affected children and their families.
The assurance came at a thanksgiving meeting organized by the Indian Red Cross Society in Hanamkonda after pensions were sanctioned for affected children.
About 235 applications were received through a special counter in Hanamkonda, with over 2,000 affected persons expected to benefit across the State.
The government will examine providing housing to eligible thalassemia-affected families under existing housing schemes.
Ponguleti lauded voluntary blood donors and urged more youngsters to donate blood regularly; MLA Naini Rajender Reddy called supporting affected children a collective social responsibility.
