Babu was serving as Special Secretary in the Kerala General Education Department at the time of his appointment.
He previously served as District Collector, SupplyCo Commissioner, State Mission Director of the National AYUSH Mission, Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Special Secretary of the Animal Husbandry Department.
His predecessor Rathan U Kelkar became Secretary to Chief Minister V D Satheesan after the UDF government came to power in May this year.
