Mathura Cultural Procession Showcases Braj Folk Traditions During Krishna Celebrations
A colorful procession was held in Mathura during the Shri Krishna Janmotsav celebrations.
It showed traditional dances and performances from Braj and other parts of India.
Artists wore bright traditional clothes.
They performed a peacock dance and a Rajasthani dance.
Other acts included bear and langur characters.
Snake charmers also performed with a been, a traditional instrument.
People heard drums, flutes, devotional songs and religious chants.
Residents and devotees welcomed the artists by showering them with flowers.
A cultural procession showcasing Braj and other Indian folk traditions was held in Mathura during Shri Krishna Janmotsav 2026.
The procession began at Shri Krishna Janmasthan and was inaugurated by Uttar Pradesh minister Chaudhary Laxmi Narayan.
Performances included peacock and Rajasthani Gujari dances, traditional bear and langur acts, and snake-charming demonstrations.
Devotional songs, flute melodies, drums, folk instruments and chants of “Radhe Radhe” and “Jai Shri Krishna” accompanied the procession.
The route passed through Potra Kund, Govind Nagar and Deeg Gate before returning to Shri Krishna Janmasthan, where residents and devotees welcomed the performers.
