Pune FDA Suspends Three Food Licences, Seizes ₹19.90 Lakh
Food safety officials inspected restaurants and food businesses in parts of Maharashtra.
The inspections happened from August 17 to 20.
They suspended three food licences or registrations because of serious rule violations.
Inspectors reported finding insects, stale or expired food, food colours and unsafe storage conditions.
At one KFC storage facility, leaking water and ice were found on food boxes.
Officials also seized food products worth ₹19.90 lakh for testing.
In a separate action, they seized gutkha, paan masala and flavoured tobacco.
More action will follow after laboratory reports are received.
The Pune FDA suspended three hotel or restaurant licences or registrations after inspections from August 17 to 20.
The affected establishments were Baba’s Kitchen, Ambrosios-Shrinath Food Corner and Sapphire Foods’ KFC storage facility, according to the reports.
Inspectors cited food colours, stale or expired food, cockroaches, poor hygiene, unapproved storage and unsafe cold-storage conditions.
Food products worth ₹19.90 lakh were seized from five establishments in Pune, Solapur, Kolhapur and Sangli over suspected adulteration or labelling violations.
In separate enforcement action, officials seized prohibited tobacco products worth ₹18.36 lakh, registered nine FIRs, sealed six establishments and arrested 12 people.
