Assam CM launches door-to-door flood damage assessment in four districts
The state of Assam in India had very heavy floods.
Many people were hurt, and almost 100 people sadly passed away.
The leader of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, wants to help the people who lost things in the floods.
He told his team to go to every house in four badly affected districts.
The team will look at the damage and take pictures.
They will use a special phone app to save the pictures.
Then the government will check the damage again with the families.
This will help the government know how much money is needed.
The money will be used to help families rebuild their homes.
Schools will open again on August 10, and kids from damaged schools will go to other nearby schools for now.
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a door-to-door flood damage assessment in Jorhat, Sivasagar, Charaideo and Golaghat districts from August 9 to 30.
At least 97 people have been killed and over 1.68 lakh people remain affected by the Assam floods.
Surveyors will upload images of the damage on a dedicated mobile app, followed by re-verification of assessments with affected families.
The government expects to estimate funds required for rehabilitation by September 10 and will provide maximum relief permissible under existing norms.
Schools will reopen from August 10, with students from badly damaged schools temporarily tagged with nearby schools.
