Mangaluru Railway Division Demand Receives Fresh Political Push

Mangaluru Railway Division Demand Receives Fresh Political Push
Mangaluru railway division demand gets fresh political push · thehansindia.com

Mangaluru has been asking for its own railway division for more than 10 years.

A railway division is an administrative area managed by railway officials.

P.V. Mohan said Mangaluru should receive one instead of Mysuru.

He welcomed the city being separated from the Palakkad railway division for administrative purposes.

However, he said this change did not go far enough.

He said the region brings in about Rs 1,100 crore in railway revenue each year.

He also pointed to the Konkan Railway, the Mangaluru-Hassan rail link and Mangaluru port.

He said Congress would work to create a separate division if it comes to power.

The demand may become an important election issue.
