Sabarmati Bullet Train Bridge Completed Over River
A new bridge for India's Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train project has been completed over the Sabarmati River.
It is 480 metres long and 36 metres high.
That is about as tall as a 12-storey building.
The bridge has seven long sections called spans.
Eight large piers hold it up, with some placed in the river and others on or beyond the banks.
Builders used a method that let them extend the bridge out from the piers without ordinary scaffolding underneath.
Each span was made from 23 concrete pieces cast at the construction site.
The bridge is between the Sabarmati and Ahmedabad bullet train stations.
A 480-metre bridge over the Sabarmati River in Gujarat has been completed for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor.
The bridge is 36 metres high, roughly the height of a 12-storey building.
It has seven spans: five measuring 76 metres and two measuring 50 metres.
Eight circular piers support the structure; four are in the riverbed, two on the banks and two outside them.
It was built using the Balanced Cantilever Method, and each span contains 23 concrete segments cast at the site.
