Delhi BJP Announces Week-Long Events for 80th Independence Day
India has a special day called Independence Day on August 15 every year.
This year, it will be the 80th time India celebrates it.
A political group called the BJP in Delhi wants to celebrate for a whole week.
They planned fun and respectful activities from August 9 to August 15.
People will walk together holding the Indian flag, called Tiranga Yatras.
They will also clean memorials and put flowers on statues of brave heroes who helped India.
On August 14, they will remember people who were hurt when the country was divided long ago.
On August 15, everyone will gather at the Red Fort with the Prime Minister to raise the flag.
Delhi BJP chief Harsh Malhotra announced week-long programmes marking India's 80th Independence Day from August 9 to 15.
Planned activities include Tiranga Yatras, cleanliness drives and wreath-laying ceremonies at martyrs' memorials across Delhi.
State General Secretary Vishnu Mittal will head the coordination team, assisted by Sunil Yadav, Sarika Jain and Santosh Ojha.
The schedule includes observing Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on August 14 and Red Fort flag-hoisting with PM Narendra Modi on August 15.
The week begins August 9 with MP Bansuri Swaraj's floral tribute at Pt. Madan Mohan Malaviya's statue in Malviya Nagar and a Tiranga Yatra from Pilanji Village to Greater Kailash.
