Yogi Warns of Forces Dividing India Over Caste, Region, Language
On Sunday, the leader of a big Indian state gave a speech at a special event.
The event celebrated 101 years since a famous train action in 1925.
Back then, brave people in India stopped a British train to seize treasure that belonged to Indians.
They wanted the British to leave India so that India could be free.
Some of those brave people were executed, and others were sent to prison for life.
The leader said India became weak long ago because people inside the country were divided.
He said some people still try to divide India using caste, language and region.
He also said social media is being used to spread false stories about India.
He thanked the country's Prime Minister for honouring freedom fighters with memorials and postage stamps.
He asked everyone to be proud of their heroes and to put the nation first.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said India became enslaved because of internal divisions and conspiracies.
He warned that anti-national forces are still trying to divide India over caste, region and language, and are misusing social media to spread rumours.
He was speaking at the Centenary Celebration Programme marking 101 years of the Kakori Train Action at the Kakori Martyrs Memorial on Sunday.
He said post-Independence governments insulted the revolutionaries by calling the 1925 event the 'Kakori Dacoity Case' and by failing to build memorials or name institutions after them.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government, in office since 2014, with restoring respect to freedom fighters and renaming the episode the 'Kakori Train Action'.
