Mumbai JCB Operator Booked After Teen Injured In Demolition
A road-widening project was taking place in Vidyavihar, Mumbai.
Workers were using a JCB machine to demolish a shop.
An iron piece called a C-channel came loose and moved toward the road.
It hit 17-year-old student Deven Jain above his right eye.
People nearby helped take him to Rajawadi Hospital.
Police filed a case against the JCB operator, Mehtab Mehdi Hasan.
They are investigating whether the demolition site had enough safety protections for pedestrians.
Deven is still receiving treatment.
A 17-year-old student was seriously injured when an iron C-channel struck him during a BMC road-widening drive in Vidyavihar on August 25, 2026.
The incident occurred on Station Road near Chamunda Jewellers and Tip Top Lodge at about 3:20 p.m.
Police identified the JCB operator as 25-year-old Mehtab Mehdi Hasan and registered a case alleging negligence.
The student, Deven Jain, was taken to Rajawadi Hospital with help from local residents and remains under treatment.
Police said their preliminary inquiry indicated that the demolition work may not have included adequate pedestrian safety measures.
