Uttar Pradesh Targets 1,500 Sites for Electric Vehicle Chargers
Uttar Pradesh is planning more places where people can charge electric vehicles.
In the current part of the plan, 238 places have been approved.
Agreements have been signed for 99 of them, while 139 are still waiting for agreements.
The next part aims to cover 1,500 places.
Officials have found 240 possible locations for that phase so far.
These include places managed by cities, transport services and electricity companies.
Charging stations are also planned for places such as hospitals, colleges and industrial areas.
The Chief Secretary asked district officials to find more suitable public places and send in proposals quickly.
Under the current phase of the PM E-DRIVE scheme, 238 charging-station locations have been approved across 20 clusters in Uttar Pradesh.
MoUs have been completed for 99 of the 238 locations, while 139 MoUs remain pending.
The scheme’s second phase sets a target of 1,500 locations, with 240 identified so far and 1,260 still to be identified.
The second-phase sites identified so far include 129 in municipal areas, 74 for the state road transport corporation, 10 for an industrial development authority and 26 for electricity distribution companies.
Chief Secretary directed district magistrates to identify suitable public sites and promptly submit proposals for charging infrastructure.
