Government buses return to three Cooch Behar border routes
Government buses are running again on three routes near Dinhata.
These routes connect the town with Chaudhurihat, Shalmara and Kursharhat.
The buses had stopped operating almost 10 years ago.
Without them, people in remote and border areas found it harder to travel to Dinhata.
The North Bengal State Transport Corporation restarted the services.
The launch took place at the Gosani Road bus stand.
MLA Ajay Ray inaugurated the buses and rode part of one route.
Officials said the decision followed requests from local residents and approval from the transport department.
The North Bengal State Transport Corporation resumed buses on three Dinhata subdivision routes after nearly 10 years.
Services restarted on the Dinhata–Chaudhurihat, Dinhata–Shalmara and Dinhata–Kursharhat routes.
The services were formally launched from the Gosani Road bus stand in Dinhata on Thursday.
Dinhata BJP MLA Ajay Ray inaugurated the services and bought the first Shalmara-route ticket.
Residents of remote and border areas had faced commuting difficulties after the earlier services stopped.
