Tamil Nadu Retains India’s Manufacturing Lead in ASI 2024-25

Tamil Nadu had more registered factories than any other Indian State in 2024-25.

It had 41,221 factories.

Gujarat came second with 33,084, while Maharashtra had 27,379.

Tamil Nadu also had the largest number of manufacturing workers.

However, its share of all manufacturing workers fell slightly from the previous year.

The State produced 10.90% of India’s manufacturing GVA.

The survey said that most major manufacturing measures grew during the year.

Basic metals, vehicles, chemicals, medicines and food together produced more than 45% of India’s manufacturing GVA.
