Andhra Pradesh Crop Insurance Enrolment Surges Among Non-Loanee Farmers
Many farmers in Andhra Pradesh signed up for crop insurance during Kharif-2026.

The number of non-loanee farmers enrolling rose sharply from the previous year.
Insurance now covers about 72 per cent of the land cultivated during the season.
Farmers can use two government schemes covering several different crops.

The government also encouraged insurance because of possible bad weather, including El Niño impacts.
The enrolment deadlines ended in August.
Non-loanee farmer enrolment rose to 25.26 lakh in Kharif-2026 from around two lakh in Kharif-2025.
Crop insurance covered 16.88 lakh hectares, or about 72 per cent of the 23.40 lakh hectares cultivated.
The number of applications increased from 19.50 lakh to 42.91 lakh.
Farmers covered rose from 7.57 lakh to 15.95 lakh, while insured area increased 115 per cent.
Officials linked the rise to greater awareness of climate risks and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s call for universal crop coverage.
