Rainy Independence Day in Delhi as Heavy Showers Forecast Nationwide

The weather scientists in India, called the India Meteorological Department, look at the sky to tell us what the weather will be like.

They say that on India's birthday, which is called Independence Day, it might rain in Delhi, the capital city.

There is a 70 out of 100 chance of light rain very early in the morning, and maybe more rain later in the day.

The sky will probably be cloudy, and it will feel warm, between 24 and 34 degrees.

Some other places in India, like Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, might get very heavy rain.

A big weather system moving across the country is causing all this rain.

In the mountains of Uttarakhand, very heavy rain could cause landslides and block roads.

There might also be heavy rain in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, and parts of Uttar Pradesh.

People in Mumbai and the Northeast should also expect rain.

So people celebrating Independence Day in Delhi might want to carry an umbrella!
