Modi Urges Youth to Champion Skill Development After WorldSkills Success
Prime Minister Narendra Modi met young Indians who competed in a big international skills contest.
He congratulated them for doing well and encouraged them to keep improving.
India won six silver medals and 20 awards for excellence, finishing 10th overall.
The contest was held in Shanghai from September 22 to 27.
India sent 70 competitors to take part in 63 different skill areas.
Modi said skill-training institutes are just as important as IITs and IIMs.

The 48th WorldSkills Competition took place in Shanghai from September 22 to 27, with more than 1,400 competitors from nearly 70 countries and regions.
India sent a record 70 competitors across 63 skill categories, improving on its 13th-place finish in Lyon in 2024.
