Smriti Nambiar wins silver at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026

Smriti Nambiar, an Indian baker, won a silver medal in the Bakery category at the WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 competition.

This event is one of the biggest for vocational and technical skills, with over 1,400 competitors from 70 countries.

Smriti also received the 'Best of the Nation' award for India.

Her win is a big deal because it shows how skilled Indian youth are on a global stage.

India sent its largest team ever, with 70 competitors in 63 different skills.

India finished 10th overall, winning six silver medals and 20 Medals for Excellence.

This is better than their performance in the previous WorldSkills event in Lyon, where they won four bronze medals and finished 13th.
