Nashik Plans 1,435.81-Km Road Network Ahead of 2027 Kumbh
Nashik and Trimbakeshwar are preparing for the large number of people expected at the 2027 Kumbh Mela.
To help traffic move more easily, authorities are planning or building 1,435.81 kilometres of roads.
A 65.60-kilometre ring road will help keep some vehicles away from the busiest parts of Nashik.
The roads will connect important places such as pilgrimage sites, railway stations, ghats and the airport.
Workers also plan to place water, sewage, electricity, drainage, fibre-optic and gas systems along the roads.
Officials say the roads are meant to be useful after the festival too.
They could help daily commuters, tourists, businesses and freight vehicles.
The work is planned to be ready by March 2027.
Road infrastructure covering 1,435.81 km is planned across Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.
The programme involves the National Highways Authority of India, Public Works Department, Nashik Municipal Corporation and other agencies.
A 65.60-km Nashik Ring Road is intended to divert through-traffic away from the city centre.
Road corridors will include stormwater drainage, water, sewage, electricity, optical fibre and gas infrastructure.
The projects are targeted for completion by March 2027 and are expected to support the region beyond the Kumbh Mela.
