Mumbai Gets Light Showers as Monsoon Recedes; Thane Under Alert

The rainy season in Mumbai, called the monsoon, is starting to end after many weeks of heavy rain.

On Wednesday, August 5, people in Mumbai woke up to a cloudy sky and light rain.

Weather scientists called the India Meteorological Department, or IMD, study the rain and tell people what to expect.

They think Mumbai will still get some moderate rainfall.

In nearby places like Thane and Raigad, the rain could be much stronger, with thunder and lightning.

Because of this, a yellow alert was announced for those areas.

A yellow alert is like a warning sign that says be careful because heavy weather might come.

Earlier, the scientists thought there would be no alert, but they changed their minds and made the warning stronger.

People in Thane, Raigad and Palghar should stay safe and be ready for heavy rain.
