People ran away while cars, motorcycles and a school bus tried to escape.

Mud, rocks and other debris covered streets and damaged buildings.

Some roads and bridges were washed away.

The flood was part of a larger disaster involving a landslide and a glacier-related event near the Nepal-Tibet border.

Many villages and communities were also affected.

Rescue workers are using large machines to look for survivors and missing people.

Nepal’s prime minister said rescuing people, treating the injured and helping families were the main priorities.

Officials warned that more floods and landslides could happen because heavy rain was continuing.
