Tamil Nadu Earmarks ₹58,374 Crore for Agriculture in 2026-27 Budget

The government of Tamil Nadu, a state in India, has shared its new plan to help farmers, called the Agriculture Budget.

The plan sets aside a huge amount of money — ₹58,374 crore — for farming.

That is more money than they gave last year.

The government wants to grow enough food so that nobody goes hungry.

It will help cotton farmers through a special program called the Cotton Renaissance Mission.

It also wants more farmers to grow crops without chemicals, which is called organic farming, and will pay farmers who do that.

A new plan called the Uzhavar AI Scheme will use computers and artificial intelligence to tell farmers about their soil and crops.

The government will also spend money on micro irrigation so water is used wisely.

It will even teach women to use drones in farming, similar to the Centre's Drone Didis scheme.

All these ideas are meant to make farming better and food safer.
