In India, people get ready to celebrate Independence Day, the day the country became free.

The government has a special campaign called Har Ghar Tiranga, which means 'a flag in every home'.

The campaign asks every family to put up the Indian national flag at home.

To share this message, a big programme was held in New Tehri, Uttarakhand.

There was a photo exhibition showing the story of India's freedom and the history of the national flag.

School children joined a Tiranga Rally, walking together while holding the flag.

Some children won prizes for poems, paintings and posters they made.

The programme also remembered Partition, when India was divided in 1947 and many people had to leave their homes.

Families who came to Tehri from Pakistan at that time were thanked and honoured.

The message was that everyone should feel proud of their country and stay united.
