Bangladesh claim historic first Test win on Australian soil

Cricket is a sport where one team hits a ball and tries to score points called runs, while the other team bowls and tries to get batters out.

Bangladesh and Australia played a Test match, which is the longest kind of cricket game and can last up to five days.

Australia batted first and scored 198 runs, and Bangladesh bowled them out.

A fast bowler named Hasan Mahmud was the star of the match, taking nine wickets in total.

Bangladesh then batted and scored a huge total of 426 runs, helped by a first-ever Test century from Tanzid Hasan.

That left Australia with a small target of just 57 runs to defend.

Bangladesh reached the target quickly, in about 14 overs, and won by nine wickets.

This was Bangladesh's very first Test win on Australian soil, which made it a historic moment.

It is also only their second Test win over Australia ever, after winning in Dhaka in 2017.

Now Bangladesh leads the two-match series 1-0, and the next Test will be played in Mackay.
