Madhya Pradesh Raises Moong Procurement to 60% After Farmer Protest
Farmers in Madhya Pradesh grow a bean called moong and want the government to buy all of it at a fair price.
They marched to the chief minister’s house in Bhopal to ask for this.
The state government agreed to raise the amount it will buy from 25% to 60% of the crop.
They also stopped a system that made it hard for farmers to get fertiliser.
Even though the government made these changes, some farmers said it was just a small gesture and they still want 100% of their beans bought.

Farmers demanded 100% procurement at the minimum support price and marched toward Bhopal on July 27.
The change was announced following talks between farmer representatives and Agriculture Minister Aidel Singh Kansana.
The procurement period was extended to August 20 and the e‑token fertiliser system was suspended.
Farmers called the concession a “lollipop” and said they would continue to demand full procurement.
