Mumbai MACT Awards ₹8.23 Lakh To Police Constable Injured By Drunk Rider During Goregaon ‘Drunk And Drive’ Operation · freepressjournal.in

A police constable was checking for drunk drivers in Mumbai in 2015.

A motorcycle allegedly came quickly through the checkpoint and hit him.

The constable badly injured his right knee and needed surgery.

Doctors said the injury caused lasting problems with walking, climbing stairs, running and squatting.

They measured disability in his leg at 38 percent.

The tribunal said this did not automatically mean he lost 38 percent of his ability to earn money.

Because he still had his job and salary, it calculated his work-related disability at 15 percent.

The tribunal awarded him ₹8.23 lakh for his losses and expenses.
