Yotta Plans 85,000 GPUs by FY27, Boosting India AI
Yotta Data Services is a company that builds big computer machines called GPUs to help people use artificial intelligence.
They want to have about 85,000 of these machines by the end of the year 2027.
They will add many new machines in 2024 and 2025, starting in places like Navi Mumbai and Noida.
They also run a cloud service called Shakti Cloud that helps the government store and use data safely.
India has enough electricity and water for these big computer centers, and Yotta thinks India should make its own AI programs instead of only using ones from other countries.
The government’s plan to help AI needs better long‑term contracts so companies can invest more easily.
Yotta plans to grow its GPU fleet to about 85,000 units by FY27, adding 8,000 B200 GPUs in July, 20,000 B300 GPUs in September, and 10,000 more in Noida by November 2024, with further additions in 2025.
Shakti Cloud, Yotta’s sovereign cloud platform, secured the National Informatics Centre’s Delhi data centre and is expected to generate over Rs 2,000 crore annually, serving more than 900 customers.
India has sufficient power capacity (512 GW installed, projected 900 GW by 2033) and water resources for large AI data centres, with most facilities using air‑based cooling.
Sunil Gupta stresses the need for India to develop its own foundational AI models to reduce reliance on foreign technology amid global restrictions.
The IndiaAI Mission’s short contract terms (1‑12 months) hinder financing; longer 4‑5 year contracts would enable scaling of AI infrastructure.

“We currently have around 10,000 GPUs operational at our Navi Mumbai data centre. By the end of July, we will deploy 8,000 Nvidia B200 GPUs, followed by 20,000 Nvidia B300 GPUs by September and another 10,000 in Noida by November to meet rising demand.
