There is a special government agency in India called the Enforcement Directorate that investigates money crimes.

Its leader, Rahul Navin, got permission to keep his job for one more year.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet made this decision on Saturday.

Navin is 59 years old and has worked for the government for many years.

He has been in charge of the agency since September 2023, first as acting director and later as full-time director.

The new permission lets him stay until August 13, 2027.

This is even past his usual retirement date of July 31, 2027.

Rules normally let an ED director serve for two years plus three one-year extensions, and this is his first extension.

During his time in charge, the agency investigated big cases involving a political consultancy, a business group, and online gaming companies.
