Adult Family Members May Answer SIR Notices for Eligible Electors

Some voters may find it difficult to answer election notices themselves.

This includes older people, people with disabilities, sick people and voters living overseas.

For these voters, a family member can help.

The family member must be older than 18.

They can visit election officials and provide the needed documents.

Election Registration Officers and Assistant Election Registration Officers will handle the notices.

Officials must explain the process during weekly meetings with political parties.

The instructions were issued after directions from the Election Commission of India.
